Taxes & VAT
We are required by law to apply taxes for certain countries. If tax is charged and at what rate depends on the account’s tax location. Registered businesses in certain locations can enter their VAT to remove those taxes from their monthly bills. We do not charge tax in the US.
VAT
Who is charged VAT?
Any Paperspace user who has a credit card on file belonging to a participating country* will automatically be charged VAT.
How is VAT calculated?
Paperspace's billing engine is linked to a database kept current with all VAT rates of participating countries*. The rate will be calculated based on the country origin of your credit card and reflected at machine creation and on monthly invoices.
To which Paperspace products does VAT apply?
All Paperspace products are taxable, regardless of their location.
I have a business ID and should not be charged VAT.
At checkout, upon entering a credit card belonging to a participating country, a field will appear to enter your VAT ID. Enter your ID, and it will be checked against the European VAT lookup database. If your business is registered, you will not be charged VAT. If your business ID is not found or up to date, you will be charged the appropriate tax rate.

How is my tax location determined?
Your tax location is typically based on your account address, which is initially set to the payment address of your primary payment method when you sign up. In some locations, we are required by law to consider other account details, like other payment addresses or IP addresses.
Why is my invoice in USD? Can I get an invoice in another currency?
USD is the only currency we accept for payments, so all invoices are in USD. We cannot provide invoices in other currencies. Learn more about invoices.
